An Evening with Gustavo Arellano, author of Taco USA: How Mexican Food Conquered America –

Gustavo with Oranges trimmedThe University of Texas at San Antonio celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month with an evening with Gustavo Arellano on Wednesday, September 12th.

Arellano is the author of “Taco USA: How Mexican Food Conquered America” and the nationally syndicated column ¡Ask a Mexican!. The event is free and open to the public, and free parking will be available.

Last year, Arellano contacted the UTSA Libraries Special Collections when doing research for his book. After studying the library’s rich collections on San Antonio’s history and contributions to food culture, he selected two photographs to include in “Taco USA” – one of the famous San Antonio chili queens and the other depicting a Gebhardt’s Original Mexican Dinner package.
